Not So Ordinary Dragon

Student standing in front of doors

When I was a senior in high school, I thought that I had chosen the perfect school for me. I turned down Drexel and attended a small, private liberal arts college my first year. That university was a terrible fit for me. I didn't enjoy living on an isolated suburban campus and hated being one of the few students on campus during the weekend. I found semesters to be far too slow and my program wasn't challenging me. After one miserable semester at my first school, I realized that Drexel was the right school for me. I applied in December 2018 and was accepted in January 2019

Since my admittance, my Drexel journey has been anything but ordinary. I began my Drexel career on an intensive abroad trip to Edinburgh, Scotland prior to starting classes. Two quarters after beginning classes at Drexel, the COVID-19 pandemic shut things down. I lived on campus the entire pandemic, took over 100 credits over Zoom, and altered my academic plan of study to accommodate my canceled co-op due to shutdowns in the entertainment industry. Nevertheless, my professional and academic Drexel education opened doors for me that I would never have reached as a student at my first university.

In March 2022, I graduated early from Drexel after completing over 200 credits and two co-ops. Thanks to Drexel, I will be returning to Scotland to attend the University of Edinburgh this fall and obtain my master's in creative industries. My time at Drexel has opened my eyes to the vast possibilities for my career and my future, and for that, I am thankful that I made the decision to transfer.
