My Drexel Experience

The first college that I ever visited was Drexel and I immediately fell in love with the school and the campus. I thought that it was great to go to a school where I could graduate already having my foot in the door when it came to work experience, and the fact that I could do it in the city of Philadelphia was a huge bonus.

I grew up right outside of New York City, so I have a love–hate relationship with it. I love cities because they literally never sleep, but I can't help but hate NYC because there are so many people and it becomes overwhelming. Philly, on the other hand, is a beautiful city, and I managed to stay peaceful by living in University City. I loved the idea of Drexel being in a city—I would be getting the urban setting that I wanted, but also would have trees and patches of grass where students can play Frisbee. Drexel was my first choice and as soon as I got in, I locked in place.

Even though there are times when Drexel pushes me to my limits, there is no other place I would rather be.

I initially didn't come to Drexel for a degree in education, but it was calling my name when I was trying to find out what I wanted to do. I did a lot of reflecting to determine what my new major would be. The one thing that I could never get out of my mind was the great teachers that I have had over the years, and that who I am today is because of the special relationships that I had with them. Then, I started thinking about how I wanted to be just like them and became an education major.

Switching my major into the school of education is the best thing that I have done here at Drexel. My fellow future educators are the best people that I have met during my time here, and the professors that I have for my classes are the best people and educators.

So, I guess what I am trying to say here is that, even though there are times when Drexel pushes me to my limits, there is no other place I would rather be.
